gave all of us a lot of great memories. CAN YOU SAY EIGHT IN 2008? Your Palm Beaches chapter
just received news that it received the GOLD award for the eighth straight year, eight out of
eight. Your chapter President, Sherra Sewell, traveled to Knoxville to
attend the annual awards banquet on 10/17/08 to accept this award as well as
seeing the win against Mississippi State. This cannot happen without the
continued support and participation of this chapter's members. Thanks to
everyone as this takes an extreme amount of work and a large number of
activities to receive this award. Also big thanks due to our sister
chapter in the Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area as they were vital in helping us and
attending many of our events. Thanks everyone. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ SCHOLARSHIP FUNDRAISING EVENT As many of you already know, both south Florida alumni
chapters are constantly having events to raise funds for scholarships. It
is not cheap to send students from our area to UT. Please look at the

chapter's Board of Directors and Officers had their first social function on
8/24/08 to get ready for the upcoming football season and picnic. Lots of work
to do from this bunch. Thanks to Sherra (current President) and Albert (our
honorary Vol and Georgia Bulldog) Sewell for having the party at their house as
Albert can beat anyone in the state of Florida for barbeque (southern

Albert's best barbeque in the state of Florida TRULY BIG ORANGE FANS CONTEST We are seeking pictures to
prove who is the biggest Tennessee Volunteers fan in south Florida. We
would like to post your most unusual pictures to display your Big Orange spirit
on our website as please send your pictures to Tommy Kee at utm71um85@aol.com We will
recognize the winner(s) later in the year with some prizes as pictures should
come from the UT alums and fans who reside in south Florida from the Florida
Keys to Melbourne, Florida (snowbird residents also can participate). Here is our third entry as our own board
director and previous UT football player, Larry Kelly, renewed his wedding vows
(28th anniversary) and celebrated his 50th birthday on October 18 and did not
get to see the Mississippi State game. Talk about a UT theme with all the
orange and white decorations you could image as you felt like you were in
Knoxville. Here is one picture as others will be posted soon. The
bride maids were dressed in total white outfits, and the groomsmen were dressed
in orange. A huge tent, lots of people, food, orange and white
roses, drink and fun and yes our Vols won that night as well. Larry you
had two wins that night. Congratulations Larry and Ida. Well here is our second
entry for unique Vols pictures in south Florida. Joe Rosso of Lake Worth
brought his recently built VOL tailgating trailer at our annual picnic on
9/6/08. He had just finished painting it the day before as this was his
first official tailgate setup (soft opening). He still has some more
items to do as he will be taking it to Knoxville for the first home game with
UAB and will leave it up there for the fall season. If you happen to see
him when you go to a game, drop by and see him as he will be just north of
Hounddogs at the next intersection. His trailer has wonderful
sound and tv equipment that pop out of the side of the trailer. He has
generators, a hot water heater and plenty of room to store all of his gear and
satellite TV. Enjoy the pictures:

Making some predictions Rhonda and Wayne Meeks in
Deerfield Beach are our first entries as enjoy their Big Orange car. Hurricane
Wilma totaled Rhonda's red VW Beetle in 2005. After their insurance
company was not going to repair the extensive damage, Wayne, her husband,
stated lets get an orange one. This is definitely a Big Orange vehicle
with matching orange leather interior and rims. Wayne even installed a
neon UT sign that lights up the back window at night and even received positive
comments from our Gator fans. Enjoy these pictures as send more to enjoy. __________________________________________________________________________ We recently had our eighth
annual golf tournament on June 21, 2008 at the Fountains Country Club in Lake
Worth. We just finished before the afternoon storms and rain started.
Certainly the economy affected our participation, but due to the generous
contributions and participation by our golfers and volunteers, we still managed
to raise significant funds for our scholarships. Thanks to everyone who
participated, donated, and volunteered for this event. Thanks to the golf
committee and Chairman Ben Hirst for another great job. Now on to
the 9th tournament next year so stay tune for updates. Here are some pictures but
